Harbour master

Supervised by the Harbour Master, the harbour master’s office is staffed by Harbour Attendants in charge of enforcing port policies that come under the authority of the Port Manager.

The three main tasks of the Harbour Masters are:

• organising vessel movement in the port and allocating berths;
• overseeing the movement of dangerous goods through the port (declarations, parking regulations, compliance with maximum allowable quantities, etc.);
• ensuring the protection of public property: legal (prosecution of infringements) and physical (coordination to limit any incidents from extending beyond the port’s administrative boundaries).
