The figures for the first half of 2019 confirm the increase in activity at Port Reunion with a 4% rise compared to 2018, i.e. 2,838 MT.
This growth is being driven by container volumes, with a 5% progress in TEU imports and a new record for transshipment: up 23%.
Also noteworthy is the surge in cruise ship visits with inbound and outbound passenger figures of 73,159 (an increase of 62%). This half-year figure already represents nearly 90% of total passenger numbers for 2018 (81,655 PAX), and the 2020 season looks just as, if not more, promising.
These excellent results confirm that Grand Port Maritime De La Réunion has made the right strategic development choices, particularly for the transshipment hub.
